Thiruvananthapuram: The reports circulating in the media regarding the amount spent in connection with the Wayanad disaster are factually incorrect, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The state government had submitted a memorandum to the central government seeking additional immediate assistance for the disaster. The memorandum included preliminary estimates of the necessary expenditure for various aspects. However, the media is now falsely portraying these estimates as the amount spent on disaster relief, the Chief Minister stated. He emphasized that this is inaccurate. The requests in the memorandum were made by the guidelines of the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), and misrepresenting them in this way undermines the state government’s efforts to secure central assistance for the Wayanad landslide disaster, he added.
