Thiruvananthapuram: A row between the Railways and the Corporation, has become the center of attention today. Over the issue of responsibility of removing garbage from the Amayizhanjan canal after Joy, a cleaning worker, went missing, Mayor Arya Rajendran has countered the Southern Railway Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) statement, asserting that the Corporation had issued a notice to the Railways,as it was the the responsibility of the Railways to clear the waste.

Media reports say,Mayor Arya Rajendran clarified the Corporation had not intended to seek permission from the Railways to remove the waste from their property. Instead, a formal notice was issued, compelling the Railways to handle the waste removal from their vicinity only. The Mayor emphasised that this notice clearly indicated the waste was deposited only on Railway property, making the removal of it Railways’ responsibility.
