Meppadi ( Wayanad ): Temporary shelters have begun being allocated to survivors of the Mundakkai disaster. According to the National League’s rehabilitation scheme, 8 flats have been handed over to the affected families in Meppadi Kunnampat. A total of 50 families will be provided with temporary housing by the National League.
In the aftermath of the Mundakkai disaster, the National League has secured homes for 16 families. Of these, 8 flats have been handed over in Kunnampat. Additionally, two 2-bedroom flats have been fully furnished and given to the families. Until permanent arrangements are made, the National League will cover the rent and daily expenses of the residents. The project was announced only after the accommodation was ready, without prior public declaration.
Abdulla Kutty, Convenor of the Rehabilitation Scheme, stated that the families receiving the flats are relieved to have temporary housing so quickly.
Apart from the current 16 homes, the National League’s state committee will also provide accommodation for an additional 34 families as suggested by the government. The project was inaugurated by State President A.P. Abdulla Wahab.
