High Court to Rule on Petition Against Release of Justice Hema Commission Report
Kozhikode: The High Court will deliver its verdict today on a petition seeking to prevent the release of the contents of the Justice Hema Commission report, which studied issues faced by women in the Malayalam film industry. The petition was filed by producer Sajimon Parayil.
Justice Viji Arun’s bench is set to announce the verdict at 2 PM today. The petition argues that the report infringes on privacy and was prepared without hearing the perspectives of the accused individuals.
However, both the Cultural Department and the State Information Commission have taken the position that the report can be published with personal references removed. The Women in Collective and the Women’s Commission have joined the petition as parties.
Search in Mundakkai will continue Today
Kalpeta: The search for those missing due to the Mundakkai landslide will continue today. The search will focus on the Chaliyar River and its surrounding areas. The search will involve various locations within the river’s catchment area and the forest.
The operation will include teams from the NDRF, Fire and Rescue Services, Civil Defense, Police, and the Forest Department, as well as residents and volunteer organizations. Specifically, 15 experienced members from volunteer organizations will search the forested areas.
This effort underscores the importance of locating the missing individuals and providing assistance to those affected by the landslide’s aftermath.
Search for Missing Kozhikode Resident Arjun Resumes in Shirur
Bengaluru: In Karnataka’s Shirur, the search for Arjun from Kozhikode, who went missing due to a landslide, will resume today. The decision was made during a high-level meeting attended by the district collector and police chief of Karwar. The search will begin at 9 AM today.
Sonar examinations will be conducted to pinpoint the location of the truck. The search will focus on two previously marked locations. Navy personnel from Karwar are expected to arrive in Shirur by 9 AM. The mission is resuming because the Gangavali River’s floodwaters have receded further.
Previously, the truck’s location was identified at four points, but strong river currents may have displaced the truck. The Navy is undertaking further inspections to accurately determine the truck’s location.
Arjun’s family had earlier protested the delay in the search. If the search is not restarted within two days, the family has stated they will go to Shirur and begin a protest, according to Arjun’s sister’s husband, Jithin.
