Shornur: Four sanitation workers from Tamil Nadu were tragically killed when the Kerala Express, traveling from Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram, struck them. The deceased have been identified as Lakshmanan, Valli, Rani, and another Lakshmanan. The bodies of three of them have been recovered.
The accident occurred at 3:05 PM near the Kochi Bridge, just past the Shornur railway station. All four victims were contract workers. They were collecting debris from the tracks when they were hit by the train near the Shornur bridge. Eyewitnesses report that one body fell into the river, and efforts to retrieve it have begun.
According to the police, all four died at the scene. It is believed that the accident happened when the train suddenly approached while they were attempting to move away from the tracks.
