Kozhikode: The body of Arjun, who died in a landslide in Shiruru, was buried today. The burial took place in the family yard at his home in Kannadikkal Muladikkuzhi. Thousands, including family members and residents, gathered to pay their last respects to Arjun.

Countless people, including women and children who only knew Arjun through news reports, arrived to see his body one last time at his home. As his body was taken from the Karwar District Hospital yesterday, many people wept along the roadside, waiting for him. The mourning procession reached Kasaragod at around 4 AM. By 5:30 AM, the convoy carrying the body had passed through Kannur city. At around 6 AM, they crossed Azhiyur and entered the Kozhikode district border. Here, Minister A.K. Saseendran and the Kozhikode District Collector received the body on behalf of the state government.

At 8 AM, the procession reached Pooladikkunnu, from where it continued with a convoy of vehicles. The procession was organized by the Truck Owners Association and the Action Committee. When the procession reached Kannadikkal, residents followed the ambulance on foot. Initially, family members were allowed some time to pay their respects inside the house. Afterward, the body would be placed outside for public viewing.

The cremation is scheduled to take place in the family yard by noon. Both Kerala and Karnataka police accompanied the mourning procession. Karwar MLA Satish Krishna and Manjeshwaram MLA A.K.M. Ashraf, along with Shiruru’s diving expert Eshwar Malpe, were also present at the procession. Arjun, who sought out ways to support his family, has returned to his home in Kannadikkal, Kozhikode, two and a half months later, as a shared sorrow for all Malayalis.
