Thiruvananthapuram: “Kerala’s long-cherished dream has been realized,” Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Friday after the inauguration of the trial run at Vizhinjam International Seaport. “As ports are crucial to the development of any economy, this marks a significant chapter in the history of Kerala. There are only a few numbers of such state-of-the-art ports in the world,” the Chief Minister said.
“Motherships will arrive at Vizhinjam in large numbers. Huge container ships from across the world can berth at Vizhinjam port. Though a trial run, this port will soon become fully operational and a mother of all ports,” he added.
The CM added that Phases 2 to 4 of the port will be complete. A glowing symbol, Vizhinjam International Airport, is evidence of the willpower of an elected government, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
Speaking after a ceremonial reception for the mother vessel that was called at the Vizhinjam port here on July 12, Mr. Vijayan said a long period of rigorous hard work and ardent dedication has led to the emergence of an international port. It is going to catapult the global importance and position of the country to a new height.
Even while the Chief Minster Pinaray Vijayan and LDF as a whole, are in high spirits about the glowing symbol Vizhinjam International Airport, described by them as evidence of the willpower of an elected government, it is shadowed by the suppressed feelings of UDF, retrospective of the impetus of initiation and the will-power of late Mr. Ummen Chandi, who had amazingly won the confidence of the plebiscites and the other people of Kerala, which was witnessed by the long, serpentine, overcrowded ‘devotees’procession of his funeral.
