Water Supply Disruption Causes Hardship for City Residents in Thiruvananthapuram

Date:

Thiruvananthapuram: The city’s residents are facing severe hardship due to a disruption in the water supply, which has continued for five days. The problem, which affected nearly 500,000 people, was caused by the replacement of a single pipe. Although the pipe was fixed and pumping resumed by Sunday night, many areas still have not received water. It is expected that the issue will be resolved by noon today.

VK Prashanth has criticized the failure to resolve the water supply issue, questioning whether the entire city must suffer because of the work being done in Nemam. He has called for action against the responsible officials.

There are complaints that the water supply crisis resulted from the negligence of the water authority officials. The lack of planning for the maintenance work has exacerbated the problem. The water authority did not follow the required procedures for emergency repairs, and both MLAs and the corporation are demanding action against the officials.

In response to the disruption in water supply, the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, within its jurisdiction. School examinations have been postponed, and the Onam exams for the affected schools will be held on the 13th. Additionally, examinations scheduled by Kerala University have also been rescheduled.
