Renowned Radio Host RJ Lavanya Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned radio host Ramya Somesundaram (RJ Lavanya-41) has passed away after a battle with cancer. She was undergoing treatment for the illness. Lavanya was a senior radio jockey at Radio Kerala 1476 AM, based in Dubai. She had been active in the media industry for over fifteen years.

She was well-known through various radio stations such as Club FM, Red FM, UFM, and Radio Rasam. Lavanya’s programs, including “Vellithira,” “Priyaneram Priyageetham,” “DRK On Demand,” and “Khana Peena,” were widely appreciated. Her husband is the renowned Karnataka musician and music director Navaneet Varma. Her father, Somesundaram, has passed away, and her mother is Shashikala. She is survived by her children Vasundhara and Vihayas.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at Shanthikavad, following a public viewing at the Thiruvananthapuram Tamalam Marian Apartments.
