Paris: Shooter Manu Bhaker will be India’s flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics on August 11, according to sources. An Indian Olympic Association (IOA) official confirmed the honor, stating, “Yes, Manu has been chosen to be the flag bearer. She has done exceptionally well and deserves this recognition.” Bhaker made history at the Paris Games by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal in the 10-meter air pistol event. She later achieved another milestone by being the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals, claiming bronze alongside Sarabjot Singh in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event.
The IOA has not yet announced the male flag bearer for the closing ceremony. Meanwhile, young star Lakshya Sen will compete for the bronze medal after his semifinal defeat, and Neeraj Chopra is set to begin his campaign on August 6. PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal previously served as the flag bearers for India at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
