Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized the need to strengthen the education system in government schools by adopting result-oriented methods and ensuring high quality across all aspects. During a review meeting on education held on Tuesday, attended by Minister Nara Lokesh and senior officials, Naidu stated, “Providing value-based quality education is a core objective of the Andhra Pradesh Government.” He directed officials to upgrade the curriculum to align with future needs and urged them to enhance government schools to make them competitive with private educational institutions.
“Education is a fundamental right for every individual,” Naidu asserted, emphasizing that all school-age children should be enrolled in school. He called for the resumption of Pratibha Awards and parent-teacher meetings and encouraged those willing to contribute to the development of schools under the Janmabhoomi program.
Naidu underscored the need for significant changes in the academic sector with the goal of achieving excellent results, noting that the government is investing ₹32,000 crore annually in education. He said the results should reflect this investment. The Chief Minister announced plans to consult educational experts, intellectuals, and prominent figures in the academic field to upgrade the school curriculum and stressed the importance of providing basic amenities in all schools.
He also emphasized the importance of achieving 100 percent enrollment and ensuring proper monitoring up to the graduation level. Every student, he said, should be issued an identity card under the central government’s Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR). Naidu instructed officials to review Government Order 117 and report back after discussions with academic experts and teachers.
During the meeting, officials briefed the Chief Minister on the reforms and new policies introduced in the education sector by Minister Nara Lokesh. They noted the implementation of the “one teacher for one class” system and the reduction of the burden on teachers related to app usage.
The state currently has 44,570 government schools and 813 aided schools, with officials highlighting that 5,530 schools have fewer than 10 students, and 8,072 schools have fewer than 20 students. The Chief Minister also conducted a review meeting on skill development, where officials presented the results of a recent skill census conducted by the state. Naidu directed them to consult with industrialists on this matter.
