JD(U) intensifies pressure for caste census, stating that Agnipath is not necessary.

Date:

JDU is increasing pressure for the implementation of a caste census and a review of the Agnipath project. KC Tyagi, a leader of JD(U), emphasized the need for a review due to the public’s discontent with the Agniniveer project.

The Agnipath project, initiated by the Modi government in 2022, has faced opposition in states like Bihar, Rajasthan, and Haryana, with youth protesting against the project’s impact on employment opportunities and benefits such as pensions.

The BJP is currently in discussions with allies TDP and JDS regarding government formation. The BJP aims to address the demands of the TDP, which has requested the Speaker’s post and two key cabinet portfolios, including IT, commerce, and transport departments. TDP has reaffirmed its commitment to the NDA and clarified that there are no ongoing discussions with the India alliance.

JD(U) has proposed four ministers, with departments like Railways, Agriculture, and Rural Development included in their list.

In other news, Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony has been rescheduled from the initial date of June 8 to June 9. Modi submitted his resignation letter to President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday.
