Thiruvananthapuram: Action has been taken against ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar, who has been removed from his responsibility as ADGP in charge of law and order. This action follows a report from the state police chief. Ajith Kumar will continue to serve as the battalion ADGP. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the Secretariat last night and returned. The action follows a secret meeting between the ADGP and RSS leaders. The DGP’s findings indicated that there was a breach of service regulations by the ADGP, who met with leaders lacking authority. His actions, including the use of an official vehicle for the secret visit, were also highlighted as violations. The action against the ADGP comes just before the resumption of the legislative assembly session tomorrow.
The second-in-command of the police, who met with RSS leaders, sparked a political controversy. The main allegation from the opposition is that the ADGP met with RSS leaders on behalf of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. There has also been criticism within the LDF for not taking action against the ADGP. The meetings took place on May 22, 2023, with RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, and again on June 2, 2023, with Ram Madhav, occurring within a ten-day interval.
Manoj Abraham Takes Charge
