Thanking her trusted mentor for the ‘great responsibility,’ Atishi expressed her gratitude
New Delhi: Atishi Marlena will become the Chief Minister of Delhi in place of Arvind Kejriwal. The decision was made during a meeting of AAP MLAs. It was Arvind Kejriwal, who is stepping down, who suggested Atishi’s name for the Chief Minister position. With Atishi’s ascension, she will become the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi, following Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. Meanwhile, Atishi stated, “There is only one Chief Minister in Delhi, and that is Arvind Kejriwal.” She expressed gratitude to Kejriwal, the beloved Chief Minister of Delhi and her mentor, for entrusting her with such a significant responsibility, adding, “Our goal is to bring Arvind Kejriwal back as Chief Minister.”
Just two days ago, Arvind Kejriwal made an unexpected announcement that he would resign from the Chief Minister position. On that day, Kejriwal stated that he would submit his resignation within two days. This evening, he visited Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena to hand over his resignation letter.
Reports suggest that Atishi’s name was the most proposed for the Chief Minister position during the AAP MLAs’ meeting. Currently, she manages 13 departments, including finance, revenue, and education.
