Delhi: Just one day before the elections in Maharashtra, BJP national leader Vinod Tawde was caught with money by Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) workers. Tawde, who is the BJP national general secretary, was detained by BVA workers at a hotel in Virar. Dramatic scenes unfolded at the hotel as BJP and BVA workers clashed. Diaries were also found in Tawde’s bag.

BVA MLA Hitendra Thakur claimed that the diary contained details related to the distribution of ₹15 crore. He accused Tawde of bringing ₹5 crore in cash. After the official end of the campaigning on Monday evening, Thakur questioned why Tawde was still in the area.

The BVA also expressed concerns about the CCTV cameras in the hotel being non-functional. “Action should be taken against the hotel. The only reason the CCTV cameras weren’t working is that money was being distributed,” Thakur said. Videos showing Tawde being detained at the hotel and workers shouting “thief” at him have also surfaced.

Meanwhile, the BJP has dismissed the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar questioned why a national general secretary like Vinod Tawde would be distributing money at the ward level. He dismissed the accusations as unrelated and absurd.
