Kottayam: The Chief Minister has announced an investigation into the allegations raised by PV Anwar MLA against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar. The Chief Minister stated, “The government will examine all matters thoroughly. There will be no preconceived notions. Issues have arisen, and these will be investigated by a senior police officer with due seriousness. Discipline is paramount. Any actions that disrupt discipline will not be tolerated.”
The Chief Minister made these remarks after the state conference of the Police Association in Kottayam, where the ADGP was also present. However, no comments were made by the Chief Minister regarding PV Anwar, who has reportedly pressured the Home Department.
The Chief Minister further emphasized, “Those within the police force who are bound by the rules of discipline are obligated to work within its framework. In the past, the police were known for their use of force, but now they have transitioned to being public servants. A small faction still resists this change and brings disrepute to the force. The government is aware of these issues and is committed to removing such individuals from service. The government’s stance is that such people are not needed in the force.”
Meanwhile, PV Anwar continued to raise allegations against the ADGP on Monday, accusing him of colluding to cover up the solar scam and of building a palace-like residence near Kavadiyar Fort. Anwar also claimed that the ADGP’s team was involved in smuggling gold at the airport.
Additionally, it is reported that action may be taken against Pathanamthitta SP Sujith Das, who was contacted by PV Anwar seeking assistance. Earlier, a report by Thiruvananthapuram Range DIG Ajeetha Begum had indicated serious disciplinary breaches by Sujith Das. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had previously met with Police Chief Sheikh Darvesh Sahib at a guest house in Kottayam.
On Sunday, PV Anwar MLA brought forward serious allegations against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar, labeling him as a notorious criminal with connections to gold smuggling gangs and alleging that he had conducted operations with SP Sujith Das, who previously worked in Customs. Anwar also claimed that the Chief Minister’s Political Secretary P. Shashi was a failure.
Anwar released a phone conversation with SP Sujith Das on Saturday, in which Das allegedly promised lifelong gratitude if Anwar withdrew a complaint about a case of illegal logging. Das reportedly claimed in the conversation that Ajith Kumar was all-powerful in the police force due to Shashi’s handling of all matters.
CPM State Secretary MV Govindan stated that the party and government would take the allegations raised by PV Anwar MLA seriously. He assured that all aspects would be examined thoroughly and that necessary actions would be taken with due seriousness.
