Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Repeats Criticism of Pannakkad Sadiqali Thangal

Date:

Kollam: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reiterated his criticism of Pannakkad Sadiqali Thangal. The Chief Minister stated that when he commented on Sadiqali Thangal, certain League workers reacted with loud protests and uproar. He questioned whether, before Sadiqali Thangal became the president, the League had ever received support from Jamaat-e-Islami. He also pointed out that those who oppose his criticism are using a language typical of extremists.

Addressing the gathering during the inauguration of a party office in Kollam, the Chief Minister emphasized that his remarks were directed solely at Sadiqali Thangal, the president of the Muslim League, and not at the broader Pannakkad family. “I made a statement about Sadiqali Thangal, the leader of the Muslim League. Some people from the League were protesting loudly as if I had said something wrong. I did not make any comments about the entire Pannakkad family,” he clarified.

He went on to ask whether the League had ever aligned itself with Jamaat-e-Islami or SDPI at any point in the past, questioning if Sadiqali Thangal had any involvement in such alliances. The Chief Minister also raised the issue of whether such actions were appropriate for the leader of a political party.

“Should we be silenced in our state just because some League leaders say we should not comment on Sadiqali Thangal?” Pinarayi Vijayan said, further stressing that such actions would not be accepted in the state. He also warned against using extremist language to oppose criticism, saying, “We do not need such extremist language. Do not bring it here. The CPI(M) will oppose not only the RSS and Sangh Parivar but also Jamaat-e-Islami and SDPI,” the Chief Minister added
