Congress and National Conference Finalize Seat-Sharing for J&K Assembly Elections

Srinagar: In Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress and the National Conference have completed their seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming legislative assembly elections. The National Conference will contest 51 seats, while the Congress will contest 32 seats. There will be friendly contests between the two parties for five seats.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M) and the Panthers Party will each contest on separate seats. Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hamid Karra informed the media that the two parties had reached the seat-sharing agreement with mutual understanding. He mentioned that there would be challenges in some seats but assured that friendly contests would be conducted with discipline. AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal also attended the meeting. Congress leader K.C. Venugopal stated that they would fight together and form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly elections will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1. The first phase will cover 24 seats, the second phase will cover 26 seats, and the final phase will cover 40 seats. The counting of votes for the assembly constituencies will take place on October 4.
