Kochi: Following the Congress party’s defeat in the Haryana assembly elections, review meetings are underway within the party. Today, the Congress leadership held an important initial discussion with state leaders at the residence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also participated in the meeting.
The meeting included Organizational General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Haryana State President Uday Bhan, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, in-charge Deepak Babaria, Haryana supervisor Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken, and Pratap Singh Bajwa. Rahul Gandhi reportedly stated that leaders prioritized personal interests during the elections. He emphasized that the party’s interests were secondary and that the leaders’ interests were more prominent. It was also announced that a fact-finding committee would be formed to investigate the election results, with further details to be revealed soon.
Ajay Maken remarked after the meeting that the results were surprising and unexpected. He mentioned that they gathered today to discuss and analyze the reasons for the defeat, stating that the analysis would continue and that K.C. Venugopal would later inform about the next steps.
Notably, Kumari Shelja, Randeep Surjewala, and Captain Ajay Yadav were not invited to the meeting.
