Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress party has expelled former AICC member Simi Rose Bell John after she made allegations against leaders including opposition leader V.D. Satheesan. Following her claims against leaders such as V.D. Satheesan, the Congress has taken this action. Simi Rose alleged that despite receiving support from KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala and leaders like K.C. Venugopal, Satheesan did not allow her to advance within the party leadership. She also claimed that Satheesan told her to stay at home if she did not get a PSC position. Simi revealed that many women in Congress have had bad experiences and that several of them have confided in her about these issues.
KPCC President K. Sudhakaran has taken action against Simi Rose Bell John, according to KPCC General Secretary M. Liju. The KPCC statement indicated that Simi’s allegations were intended to mentally destabilize and defame thousands of women leaders and workers within the Congress movement, in collusion with political adversaries.
Women leaders in the KPCC Political Affairs Committee, KPCC office bearers, and the State President of Mahila Congress had demanded action against Simi. The KPCC stated that the disciplinary action was taken as her conduct was prima facie considered a serious breach of discipline.
Meanwhile, the DYFI has demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations. The DYFI stated, “The revelation made by the AICC woman member against V.D. Satheesan is extremely serious. It is a situation where one has to endure exploitation to get opportunities in Congress, and there is a power group operating under Satheesan’s leadership. Due to not accommodating certain demands, many have been sidelined in various positions.” The DYFI further demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations against V.D. Satheesan and stated that having a leader like Satheesan as an opposition leader is an embarrassment for Kerala.
