Thrissur: Congress has filed a complaint with the police against BJP state vice president Adv. B. Gopalakrishnan for making controversial remarks while discussing the Munambam Waqf land issue. The complaint was filed by KPCC media panelist V. R. Anoop at the Kumbalakkat police station, accusing Gopalakrishnan of insulting Vavar Swami during the NDA public meeting.
The controversial remarks were made at a campaign rally for NDA candidate Navya Haridas in Kumbalakkat, Wayanad. Union Minister Suresh Gopi and others were also present at the event. The remarks were made just before the Union Minister’s arrival.
Gopalakrishnan’s statement was: “I have a doubt. Tomorrow, won’t they say that the land of Ayyappa is Waqf land? There’s a seat below Ayyappa, under the 18 steps… below the 18 steps, there’s another seat, Vavar’s seat. Vavar has reportedly said that he has given this land to the Waqf for now. If that’s the case, tomorrow the Sabarimala land will be considered Waqf property. Ayyappa will have to leave. Should this be allowed?”
