Thrissur: A case has been filed against Union Minister Suresh Gopi by the police in connection with his arrival at the Thrivambadi temple in an ambulance on the day of the Thrissur Pooram festival. The complaint was lodged by CPI Thrissur district secretary Advocate Suresh. The case has been registered at the Thrissur East police station, and the Motor Vehicle Department is also investigating Suresh Gopi.
The complaint alleges that Suresh Gopi, who was a BJP candidate, unlawfully traveled in the ambulance during the festival. On the night of the festival, he arrived at the Thrivambadi Devaswom office in an ambulance belonging to Seva Bharathi. Footage of Suresh Gopi arriving in the ambulance has also surfaced.
The complaint claims that the ambulance, intended solely for transporting patients, was improperly used by Suresh Gopi for election campaigning. According to the Motor Vehicle Act, ambulances are designated for patient transport and should not be used for private travel.
Suresh Gopi’s arrival in the ambulance on the day of the Thrissur Pooram sparked significant controversy. He later claimed that he did not arrive at the Thrivambadi temple in an ambulance. In his latest statement, Suresh Gopi asserted that young people present at the site had rescued him when goons attacked his vehicle.
