Kannur: CPM leader E.P. Jayarajan has sent a legal notice to DC Books over the controversy surrounding his autobiography. The notice was sent through lawyer Adv. K. Vishwan, demanding an apology from DC Books and the withdrawal of the autobiography’s excerpts that were published.
According to the notice, “It was DC Books that published parts of the autobiography on the day of the by-elections, claiming it was a ‘part of the autobiography.’ The autobiography of my party’s leader is incomplete. The publication of these excerpts on the very day of the by-election, with malicious intent, was aimed at creating a false image and providing political ammunition to our rivals during the elections.”
The notice further states that DC Books must immediately withdraw all the posts related to the autobiography and issue an apology. Failing this, legal action, both civil and criminal, will be taken.
The political landscape of Kerala is now waiting to see what DC Books will say in response to the legal notice. Earlier, E.P. Jayarajan had filed a complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP), alleging that there was a conspiracy to spread false information against him through email.
The controversy around E.P. Jayarajan’s autobiography came to light on Wednesday morning when reports surfaced claiming that the autobiography was critical of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) itself. It was said to suggest that the second Pinarayi government was weak and that the LDF leadership had failed to listen to him before removing him from the post of LDF Convenor. The autobiography also allegedly criticized Sarin, the LDF candidate in Palakkad. However, E.P. Jayarajan rejected these allegations entirely.
In the midst of this, DC Books, which claimed to have published the book titled Kattan Chayavum Parippuvadayum (The Black Tea and Parippu Vada), later announced that its release had been postponed due to technical issues. The publishers clarified that the content of the book would become clear only once it was officially published. DC Books further explained on their Facebook page that the delay was caused by production-related issues.
