Thiruvananthapuram: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan responded to the controversial interview published in The Hindu. He stated that many aspects of the interview have been misrepresented. He mentioned in a press conference that if the newspaper issues an apology, the matter should end there. He also clarified that there has been a campaign suggesting the state government has a PR agency, but he stated that the government does not have such agency.
Regarding the issue involving Pinarayi Vijayan, he said that the previous issues were not dismissed, and now there is criticism directed at his smiling demeanor. He noted that when allegations are made, new ones are raised in response.
Govindan also indicated that the state government is moving towards protest against the central government’s refusal to provide necessary financial assistance in the Wayanad disaster, announcing a campaign from October 15 to November 15.
He alleged that the BJP’s victory in Thrissur was due to UDF votes. He claimed that the narrative suggesting the LDF prepared the ground for the BJP’s victory is incorrect and stated that the CPM-RSS connection is being called into question to undermine the acceptance of the Chief Minister among secularists and minorities.
