DMK Rules Out Alliance with P.V. Anwar

Date:

Chennai: The DMK leadership has stated that there is no alliance with MLA P.V. Anwar, preparing to form a new party after parting ways with the CPI(M). DMK spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan said that accepting someone expelled from the LDF parliamentary party in Kerala goes against coalition decorum. He clarified that Chief Minister Stalin would make the final decision on this matter. DMK leaders had discussions with Anwar in Chennai. Elangovan mentioned that it is inappropriate to leak details of the discussions, so he is not ready to explain further to the media.Senior leader Senthil Balaji is behind Anwar’s maneuvers.

However, it is unlikely that the DMK will be prepared to jeopardize its good relationship with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at this time. In this context, the assessment is that Anwar’s entry into the DMK is unlikely. Meanwhile, it is also noted that the final word does not lie with Elangovan, but with M.K. Stalin, and that Anwar maintains a good relationship with him, according to E.A. Suku, Anwar’s associate and former CPI(M) leader. Reports suggest that DMK observers will arrive to monitor the political clarification meeting that Anwar is conducting in Mancheri on Sunday evening. Previously, images of Anwar discussing with DMK leaders in Chennai had emerged. However, Anwar has yet to comment on joining the coalition.
