Ministerial Changes in NCP: Thomas K. Thomas to Replace A.K. Saseendran?

Date:

Thiruvananthapuram: Indications suggest that there may be a ministerial reshuffle in the NCP. Reports indicate that A.K. Saseendran has expressed his willingness to resign from his ministerial position. This significant decision reportedly came during a meeting led by party president Sharad Pawar. Kuttanadu MLA Thomas K. Thomas is expected to be the successor to Saseendran. An official announcement regarding the ministerial change is anticipated within a week after informing the Chief Minister and the Left Front.

Initially, Saseendran did not agree to the party’s request to step down. He had insisted that he would resign from his MLA position if removed from the ministerial role. Following this, Saseendran held discussions with the Chief Minister regarding his resignation, but the Chief Minister maintained that he could not intervene in the matter.

Meanwhile, many leaders within the NCP are advocating for Thomas K. Thomas to be retained in the ministerial position for at least one year. When the second Pinarayi government came to power, Kottanadu MLA Thomas K. Thomas had pushed for a ministerial role, but the party was not ready at that time.

Although a proposal was put forward that Saseendran could pass on the ministerial role after two and a half years, he was not agreeable. However, now several party leaders are calling for Saseendran to step back from the ministerial position.
