Malappuram: MLA P.V. Anwar has launched a sharp criticism against the Forest Department. His remarks came during a Forest Department event in Nilambur, where he directed his comments at Minister A.K. Saseendran, who was seated on the stage. Anwar stated that there is a need for a minister for both wildlife conservation and human protection, adding that the mindset of Forest Department officials is more brutal than that of wild animals.
“Access to the forest is prohibited for everyone. The situation is such that anything can happen in the forest. There are regular wildlife attacks in residential areas. Wild animals are even reaching urban areas. The Forest Department is supposed to undergo social audits, yet it restricts entry for outsiders. Journalists and public representatives are not allowed to enter the forest. Wildlife within the forest is not getting enough food.
Since K. Sudhakaran became the Minister of Forests, none of this has been addressed. It seems that Shashiendra has been oblivious to this situation,” said MLA P.V. Anwar. He also criticized the Forest Department for unnecessarily constructing buildings within the forest, calling it inappropriate and stating that it is an issue that the party needs to intervene in.
