Malappuram: MLA P.V. Anwar sharply criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, stating that he has no plans to form his political party, but if the public becomes a party, he will be there with them. During a clarification meeting in Nilambur, Anwar accused the Chief Minister of portraying himself as a fraud after Anwar made revelations related to gold smuggling.
Beginning his speech by recalling Pushpan, Anwar noted that Kerala has become a place where people are viewed in a communal light for any issue raised. He expressed concern that instead of examining the topic, people first look at the individual’s name.
“Just because my name is Anwar, they attempt to label me a communalist. There’s a lot of discussion because I’m said to be someone who prays five times daily. A person’s faith does not make them a communalist; it’s when one starts opposing other religions and showing hatred that communalism arises,” Anwar stated.
He demanded the removal of prayers from government functions, mentioning that he had written to the Assembly requesting the exclusion of religious prayers. Anwar also urged the establishment of a common time for bank operations and called for community leaders to intervene.
“It’s easy to label someone a communalist. Young people are becoming slaves to their mobile phones. The youth are unaware of local issues. Fascism is creeping in through mobile phones. Twenty-five percent of police personnel have been corrupted. Kerala is in a volatile state.
A large quantity of gold is being smuggled from the airport. This gold is meant to be an asset for our country. I have repeatedly informed the political secretary that gold smuggling is taking place. With modern scanning facilities at Karipur Airport, how is so much gold being seized by the police? There seems to be a collusion between customs and the police regarding gold smuggling. Smugglers and the police’s gold extraction squad appear to be in cahoots.
“The Chief Minister painted me as a fraud, which is when I spoke out. Kerala has turned into a hub of corruption. Now they say I didn’t give time for the party,” Anwar remarked. He claimed that the majority of people are those who made him an MLA.
Anwar asserted, “If you come to cut off my leg, even if you take it away, I will end up in a wheelchair. Don’t think anything will turn back. If necessary, they’ll have to shoot me. If you can, do it. Otherwise, you’ll end up in jail. Either way, I’m prepared.” He mentioned that upon hearing news of a case being registered regarding phone tapping, he told those present that they would have to bring cigarettes into jail for him.
He added, “If one Anwar leaves, another Anwar must come. Young people should not back away from this struggle.”
