P.V. Anwar’s Allegations Prompt Strong Response from Chief CPI(M) State Secretariat

Date:

Thiruvananthapuram: Following sharp criticism from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against MLA P.V. Anwar, the CPI(M) State Secretariat has also stepped in to dismiss Anwar’s stance. In a statement released on Sunday, the CPI(M) State Secretariat emphasized that the positions taken by P.V. Anwar MLA are weakening both the party and the Left Front, and called for him to refrain from public responses.

P.V. Anwar has submitted a written complaint to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding certain issues. A copy of this complaint has also been provided to the CPI(M) State Secretary. An investigation is currently underway at the government level concerning the matters mentioned in the complaint. The party has been reviewing related issues as well. Meanwhile, Anwar has repeatedly made allegations through the media. The CPI(M) State Secretariat’s statement indicates that they cannot agree with such positions.

Anwar’s stances are becoming weapons for opponents to attack both the CPI(M) and the government. The State Secretariat, through its statement, urged Anwar to reconsider his positions and to withdraw from actions that weaken the party.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan publicly dismissed Anwar’s allegations. He stated that as a left MLA, P.V. Anwar should have first brought his allegations to the party’s attention. As Chief Minister, he could have addressed the issues himself. After bringing them to the party’s attention, other matters could have been pursued. Anwar did not adopt that stance, which is not appropriate for someone within their ranks, the Chief Minister said. The Governor has also written a letter requesting an investigation into Anwar, which the investigation team will look into, the Chief Minister added.

Responding to the Chief Minister’s criticisms on Saturday, P.V. Anwar claimed that he had completely misled the Chief Minister with his allegations and that changes in the Chief Minister’s stance would occur when misunderstandings are resolved. He asserted that the comments made against the police are misrepresented as undermining morale. Anwar urged the Chief Minister to reconsider this matter. It was following this that the CPI(M) State Secretariat came forward to entirely dismiss Anwar’s positions.
