Kannur: The CPM has decided to take action against P.P. Divya, the former president of the Kannur District Panchayath and a member of the district committee. The decision has been made to remove her from all party positions. Divya has been demoted to the Irinavu committee branch.
The decision was made by the CPM Kannur District Committee, and it will be submitted for approval to the State Committee. Divya is currently under arrest in connection with the death of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu, and the party’s decision comes 20 days after the case was filed against her.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the district committee, which concluded that Divya had committed a serious violation. Following the involvement of Divya in the death of ADM Naveen Babu, she was removed from the post of District Panchayat President. However, initially, the party had not moved forward with disciplinary action. The pressure from the CPM district leadership in Kannur has now led to this decision. The CPM district leadership of Pathanamthitta had also demanded action against Divya.
