Palakkad: “Stagnation of development in new projects persists in local body institutions, which have run out of government funds. Even medical aid for the poor is not provided, highlighting the government’s inefficiency, according to Opposition Leader Satheesan.
Satheesan stated that the United Front and Congress would make a strong comeback in the upcoming local body elections, overcoming the short-term reversal faced by the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections in Thrissur.
He also criticized the lack of clarity regarding the ‘Plan B’ mentioned by the Finance Minister in the state budget. The opposition will oppose any increase in service charges, as people are struggling to make ends meet and further tax hikes cannot be approved.
Additionally, with Onam approaching, the government has not implemented any market intervention measures to check the rise in commodity prices. Satheesan further criticized the Communist Party of India’s ‘PR program’ as a total failure in addressing hunger.
He expressed optimism about the Union Government’s favorable response to the state’s requirements for the rehabilitation of landslide-affected areas in Wayanad.
VK Sreekandan, District Congress Committee President, presided over the meeting.
