Kochi: The burial of Baselios Thomas I, the head of the Jacobite Syrian Church, is taking place today. This afternoon, the burial will be at the specially prepared grave at the Patriarchal Center in Puthenkurish.
The church’s supreme head Ignatius Aphrem II will be represented by American Archbishop Divannasios John Kovak and UK Archbishop Athanasius Thomas David, who will participate in the funeral ceremonies. The body arrived at Puthenkurish on Friday night, and many people have offered their final tributes. Traffic arrangements have been made in Puthenkurish for the burial ceremonies at the Patriarchal Center.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will also offer his final tributes this morning.
