The E-pass will continue till June 30; Tourists are not restricted – authorities

Date:

The district administration has made it clear that tourists visiting the Nilgiris and Kodaikanal will still be required to obtain an e-pass until June 30. The purpose of the e-pass system is to gather information about visitors to the hill stations.

E-passes are issued to all applicants. While there are no restrictions on tourists in Kodaikanal and Ooty, those who bring vehicles must have an e-pass. Local residents and bus passengers, however, are exempt from this requirement. Check posts have been established to facilitate the issuance of e-passes. To obtain an e-pass, individuals need to submit the necessary documents.

The Madras High Court had mandated the use of e-passes for private vehicles entering Ooty and Kodaikanal during the summer season in order to regulate traffic. The government has initiated the T.N. E-pass online application process for visitors on its official website.

Visitors were instructed to register and pre-register their visit dates and provide vehicle information. For individuals residing outside of these two towns, e-pass registration is compulsory.
