Kochi: Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu has criticized the government’s stance that cases will be filed only if victims file complaints following the release of the Hema Committee report. She questioned why victims should bear the burden of filing complaints with the police. “The government is asking why you didn’t go to the police. This forces us to ask back. Should we now take on that responsibility too? How many of those who filed complaints earlier have received justice? On what basis are we being asked to trust now? Every step forward was hoped for, but there has been a lack of action in many places,” Parvathy said. She clarified her position in an interview with a private news channel.

Parvathy also stated that the struggles of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) will not end with the Hema Committee report’s release. She pointed out that if the names of those who behaved poorly are revealed, the victims will be further isolated. “Despite doing hit films, I have lost opportunities,” she added.

Parvathy also criticized Cultural Minister Saji Cherian’s statement about holding a conclave for those working in the film industry. “What is the relevance of holding a conclave with both perpetrators and victims together?” she questioned. She sharply criticized AMMA’s stance, noting that even after leaving the organization, she was not invited for discussions.
