Malappuram: Following the announcement by state secretary M.V. Govindan that the CPI(M) no longer has any association with MLA P.V. Anwar, Anwar responded with his statements. He reiterated that he had not tried to weaken the party and emphasized his commitment to the common people. Anwar declared that he would stand with the public, and if needed, would form a political party to do so. He plans to campaign in all 16 constituencies of Malappuram and address farmers’ issues, stating he would “burn like a fireball” in defense of the people.
Anwar expressed concerns over police presence in the context of the party’s survival and stated, “It is a situation where ordinary people cannot even approach the police station. Common folks do not visit party offices. The votes for the Communist Party come from the ordinary people here, including farmers, workers, and auto drivers. They are ready to give their lives for this party, while local leaders fail to speak on their behalf.” He pointed out that ordinary people are unable to approach the party office and questioned how many local leaders face legal issues.
He criticized the lack of investigation into gold smuggling allegations, calling the party secretary’s stance on conducting a thorough investigation incorrect. Responding to Govindan’s call for party workers to speak out against him, Anwar remarked that the very same party workers had once cheered for him. He recalled that CPI(M) had offered support to him in 2016. The backlash in the last parliamentary election was due to the people’s decision. The loss in Vadakara was not because of any faults of K.K. Shailaja’s teacher. The results of the Lok Sabha election were not evaluated. Even the investigation I conducted into issues concerning party allies is not being undertaken by the CPI(M).
“I did not come here to study communism. The Communist Party is an organization that fights for the common people. I stand with the ordinary party members. Let the workers decide who they want to stand with. The true workers understand what matters,” Anwar added.
