Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM Pathanamthitta district committee has strongly criticized Kannur District Panchayat President P.P. Divya following the death of ADM Naveen Babu. CPM Pathanamthitta District Secretary K.P. Udayabhanu stated to the media, “Naveen Babu is not a corrupt individual. I have known him for a long time. His family has always stood with the left. He was an official with a good track record in public life, providing maximum support to the underprivileged.”
Udayabhanu sharply criticized P.P. Divya’s behavior, stating, “The conduct of the Kannur District Panchayat President was immature. This is not how one should behave at a farewell event. The party will conduct a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding ADM’s death.” Earlier, members of the CPM district committee had also voiced concerns regarding Divya’s actions.
“We will file a complaint with the party regarding Naveen Babu’s death. If P.P. Divya is found guilty, action must be taken. If no action is taken, we will file a private complaint,” said CPM district committee member Malayalappuzha Mohanan.
Senior CPM leaders, including R. Sanalkumar, have previously called for a thorough investigation into the death of ADM Naveen Babu.
A Lesson for All Public Servants—Speaker
Legislative Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamseer remarked that the death of ADM is a lesson for all public officials. “This is an unfortunate incident. It serves as a lesson for everyone involved in public service. A comprehensive investigation is underway,” Shamseer stated.
In response to Naveen Babu’s death, revenue officials across the state took leave on Wednesday in protest. They demand strict action against those responsible for the incident. This protest was not organized by service organizations. Officials from village offices to the secretariat in the revenue department participated in the leave.
