New Delhi: Both BJP and Congress have brought their respective complaints to the attention of the Election Commission concerning the recently held Legislative Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
In a special letter sent to BJP President J.P. Nadda and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Election Commission has sought responses regarding the complaints raised by the opposing parties.
BJP filed a complaint on November 11, alleging that Congress’s star campaigners violated election rules during the campaign for the Jharkhand and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, as well as by-elections. The Election Commission brought this to Kharge’s attention in a letter. Similarly, in a letter sent to Nadda, the Election Commission addressed two complaints submitted by Congress on November 13, accusing BJP’s star campaigners of breaching the model code of conduct during the election campaign.
The Election Commission has requested both party leaders to provide an official response by Monday, at 1:00 PM.
