NIA Team Raided Maoist Leader Murali Kannampilly’s Residence in Kochi

Date:

Kochi: In the Telangana Maoist case, prominent Maoist leader Murali Kannampally’s home was raided by the NIA, who forcibly broke into the house after Murali Kannampally refused to open the door. The NIA seized a laptop and mobile phone from the house, and Kannampally has accused the agency of attempting to frame human rights activists in false cases.

The NIA team arrived at Murali Kannampally’s residence in Kakkand, Thekkal, in the early hours. When Kannampally refused to open the door, the team waited for some time before breaking in through the back door. Kannampally did not cooperate with the raid, and the NIA officials searched the house and surrounding area, seizing his laptop, mobile phone, and also the laptop and pen drive belonging to his son. Because Kannampally did not cooperate, a detailed report could not be recorded. After a six-hour search, the seized items were sealed and taken away by the NIA.

The NIA case against Murali Kannampally and four others is based on the testimony of Sanjay Deepak Reddy, a CPI (ML) central committee member arrested last year in Telangana. The Telangana police and NIA have found that Murali Kannampally and Reddy were closely connected. However, Kannampally claims this is a new false case against him.

Although Murali Kannampally has not been visibly involved in Maoist activities, the central and state investigative agencies believe he is well-informed about all the organization’s movements. Despite living in Thekkal for two years, even the neighbors did not recognize him until the NIA raid, when they realized he was the prominent Maoist leader Murali Kannampally.
