Kochi: Major Ravi, a retired military officer and film director, is facing formal complaints for allegedly misusing his army uniform during a visit to the disaster-stricken areas of Wayanad with actor Mohanlal. The complaint, lodged by RA Arun, a fellow retired army officer, has been submitted to central and state government authorities, the police, and the defense ministry.
RA Arun has strongly condemned Major Ravi’s actions, which included taking and sharing photographs on social media while wearing the uniform. The controversy has sparked widespread criticism online, with many condemning Major Ravi for posting selfies from a disaster area. According to Defense Service Regulations, it is prohibited for retired personnel to wear military uniforms, and Major Ravi’s actions are considered a violation.
RA Arun expressed concern that such behavior promotes the misuse of army uniforms and poses significant safety risks. Major Ravi’s conduct, including the sharing of photographs and selfies from the affected region, has been widely criticized by netizens.
The incident occurred on August 3, when Major Ravi and actor Mohanlal visited Wayanad to assess the damage and support the affected community. Mohanlal, who holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, has committed significant aid to the victims. During his visit, he announced that the Viswasanthi Foundation, which he founded, would donate Rs 3 crore for immediate relief and rebuilding efforts in the region.
