Heavy Rainfall Expected in Kerala Over the Next Six Days

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a possibility of a low-pressure area forming over the northern Bay of Bengal today. A cyclonic circulation is currently present over the Lakshadweep region. As a result, the India Meteorological Department has reported that Kerala is likely to experience widespread rainfall and heavy rainfall in isolated areas over the next six days. Due to the possibility of thunderstorms in some places, caution is advised. Heavy rainfall is forecasted today in the districts of Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad, and Malappuram, as well as in isolated areas of Idukki and Malappuram on Saturday. The influence of the low-pressure area may lead to heavy rainfall in more districts on Sunday and Monday.

As a precaution, a yellow alert has been declared for Sunday in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, and for Monday in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. A yellow alert indicates heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
