Dhaka: Bangladesh’s government has taken drastic measures to control escalating student protests by imposing a nationwide curfew and deploying military forces across major cities. The protests, sparked by demands to abolish the quota system, have led to widespread unrest and tragic casualties.
In response to increasingly violent protests demanding an end to the quota system, which reserves 30% of government jobs for descendants of 1971 independence war veterans, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s administration has declared a national curfew.
