Beirut: Reports indicate that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has been killed in an Israeli airstrike. Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant organization that controls much of southern Lebanon, has been led by Nasrallah for over 32 years. The Israeli Ministry of Defense has stated that he was killed in an air raid conducted in Beirut. For a long time, Nasrallah had avoided public appearances due to fears of being targeted by Israel. He was a key figure in elevating Hezbollah to its current position of influence in the region and was known as one of the most powerful individuals in the Middle East.
The Israeli military has claimed that Hassan Nasrallah can no longer instill fear in the world. Reports from Hezbollah sources indicate that there has been no communication with Nasrallah since Friday night. So far, Hezbollah has not prepared a response to the incident.
Following the news of Nasrallah’s death, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been moved to a secure location under heavy security arrangements, according to the news agency Reuters. “The fate of this region will be determined by the forces of resistance, and Hezbollah will be at the forefront,” Khamenei stated after Israel confirmed Nasrallah’s death. There are also reports that Nasrallah’s daughter, Sainab Nasrallah, was killed in the attack.
