Tel Aviv: In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza for over eleven months and in Lebanon for more than a week, Iran has launched missile attacks against Israel. On Tuesday night, Iran targeted Israel with missile strikes directed at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Israel claims that over two hundred ballistic missiles were launched by Iran and that they were successfully intercepted. President Joe Biden has instructed American troops in the region to be prepared for potential retaliation. However, there are reports of missiles hitting residential areas, and while there are no confirmed fatalities, several people have been injured.
Iran has confirmed that it carried out the attacks on Tel Aviv. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated that the strikes were retaliation for the attacks on Gaza and Lebanon and for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. Iran warned that if Israel responds militarily, it will face severe repercussions.
Before the missile strikes, sirens warning of aerial attacks sounded across Israel at 10:08 PM, urging people to move to bunkers or other safe places. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that Israel would respond with a blow that Iran would never forget.
The White House had previously warned that Iran would soon launch missile attacks against Israel. The Indian embassy in Tel Aviv issued a security alert advising Indians in the country to remain vigilant. Meanwhile, reports indicate that gunfire has occurred in Tel Aviv, with six people killed in a shooting carried out by two assailants, who were subsequently killed.
