Israeli Airstrike in Beirut Kills Four Amid Escalating Conflict

Date:

Beirut: On Monday morning, an Israeli airstrike on a building in Beirut, Lebanon, resulted in the deaths of four people. This is the first time an Israeli attack has targeted a residential center in Beirut following an escalation of conflict.

The attack occurred on the upper floors of an apartment building in the Kola district of Beirut.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a Palestinian militant group, reported that three of their leaders were killed in the Israeli attack in the Kola district, according to the Reuters news agency. Ashraf Wani, an Indian reporter for India Today TV, reported that Israeli drones had been conducting strikes on the outskirts of Beirut since Sunday evening.

Following the attack on Beirut, the Israeli military was reported by the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom to be launching strikes in the Bekaa region of Lebanon.

Sirens were heard in several cities in northern Israel, including Western Galilee and Haifa, on Sunday evening.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that a single missile launched from Lebanon triggered the sirens, but their air defense system successfully intercepted it.

Concerns about sirens being activated due to attempts to intercept missiles and fears of potential casualties were reported by The Times of Israel, citing the IDF.
