New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Poland for a two-day visit. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years. The last Indian Prime Minister to visit Poland was Morarji Desai in 1979. At the military airport in Warsaw, the Polish armed forces gave Narendra Modi a guard of honor. Indian Ambassador to Poland, Nagma Mallik, and others, including members of the Indian community in Poland, welcomed the Prime Minister. Modi’s visit aims to strengthen economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, Narendra Modi will lay floral tributes at the memorials of Indian rulers who had welcomed Polish refugees during World War II. Modi is scheduled to hold talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk tomorrow.
The discussions are expected to cover cooperation in diplomacy, defense, and cultural exchange. Modi will also address the Indian community at an event in Warsaw. On the 23rd, he will travel to Ukraine.
Prime Minister Modi had previously stated that India’s perspective on ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict would be discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Modi had mentioned this in a statement given before he visited Poland and Ukraine. Modi had expressed hope that peace could be restored in the region.
