President Biden Withdraws from 2024 Presidential Race, Endorses Kamala Harris Amid Party Pressure and Health Concerns

Date:

Washington: President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for President of the United States and endorsed his deputy, Vice President Kamala Harris, as the Democratic Party’s nominee. Calls for Biden to resign ahead of the Democratic National Convention in August were growing, even within Biden’s own Democratic Party.

In a post on X, Biden said, “I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

While endorsing VP Harris, Biden added, “Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump.”

President Biden announced his exit from the election bid scheduled for November 5 after facing mounting pressure from within the Democratic Party. Battling COVID-19, Biden bid farewell to the office of the POTUS until his official departure.

Following a disastrous debate on CNN with Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump demands for Biden to step down increased, leaving Democratic supporters unsure whether Biden could defeat Trump in the November polls.

A pivotal moment in the presidential race occurred when Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania. The attacker was shot down by a Secret Service agent but managed to kill one attendee, critically injure two others, and harm Trump’s ear. This incident garnered sympathy for the former President and further diminished Biden’s chances.

In response to these developments, Republican nominee Donald Trump asserted that Joe Biden was “never qualified” to run for the presidency and remains “utterly unfit to serve.” Trump reiterated allegations against Biden from the CNN debate, accusing him of responsibility for issues such as illegal migration and terrorism.

Trump claimed that those close to Biden were aware he shouldn’t contest the upcoming election. Trump stated, “All those around him, including his doctor and the media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t.”

After President Biden announced withdrawal from the 2024 presidential bid and endorsement of his deputy, Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, Harris responded by stating she would do everything in her power to defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Harris posted on X, “I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.”

In a shocking yet expected turn of events, President Joe Biden announced his departure from the electoral race for US President, amidst predictable pressures on the Biden Campaign to withdraw.
