Washington: In the US presidential election, there is a fierce contest between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Republican Party candidate Trump has gained over 247 electoral votes and is leading. Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris has received more than 210 electoral votes. The race is neck-and-neck in seven key states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Trump has won in North Carolina and is leading in five other states. Trump holds a significant lead in the so-called “Blue Wall” states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Voting for the 47th president of the United States began on Tuesday at 4:30 PM IST and continued until 6:30 AM on Wednesday. More than 82 million Americans had already cast their ballots through early voting. Results started coming in after the completion of voting. Out of the 538 electoral college votes, over 400 have been counted so far. The candidate who secures a simple majority of 270 or more electoral votes will become the next president of the United States.
