New York: With just hours remaining before the U.S. presidential election, experts are unable to predict a clear frontrunner. According to a New York Times survey, Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris holds a slight lead. However, in the swing states, she is neck-and-neck with Republican candidate Donald Trump.

The battle is expected to intensify in seven key states where voter sentiment is unpredictable—Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan are expected to be decisive. In Pennsylvania, Trump holds a slight lead, which gives hope to the Republican camp. In 2016, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan had all voted for Trump. Trump has focused his final campaign efforts in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, claiming that only his administration can ensure national security.

Kamala Harris has concentrated her campaign in Michigan, stating that she would work towards a ceasefire in Gaza. Following speculation that Arab-American voters may sway the election in Trump’s favor, this move has sparked a response from the Harris camp.

Voting will begin at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on Tuesday and end at 7:00 PM. Ballot counting will begin immediately after the polls close, with the first results expected by midnight. However, the official declaration of results may take longer. Over 7 million people have already cast their votes. A total of 538 electoral votes are up for grabs, and the candidate who secures 270 votes will win. Even if a candidate wins the popular vote, they cannot claim victory unless they also win the majority of electoral votes.
