Chennai: Universities in Tamil Nadu are preparing to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the evaluation of answer scripts. AI will be employed instead of teachers for grading, which the Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department believes will help reduce time loss and ensure greater accuracy.
The new AI system will be capable of evaluating answer scripts, assigning marks, and providing grades. Answer scripts will be scanned and uploaded into AI software. In addition to evaluating multiple-choice answers, this system will also handle descriptive answers.
While teachers currently require at least half an hour to evaluate a single answer script, AI can assess over a thousand scripts within a minute. With AI taking over the task of evaluating answer scripts, the workload for teachers will be reduced, allowing them more time for other preparations.
