Kochi: Relatives have claimed that police have taken into custody friends of actor Siddique’s son. According to the relatives, Nahid and Paul, who are friends of Siddique’s son Shehin, were taken into custody by the police. It is alleged that the investigation team arrived at a flat in Kochi early in the morning to detain the two.
Relatives have stated that the two individuals were taken into custody without following due process and without any clear reason. The family is preparing to file a complaint with the City Police Commissioner regarding the police’s actions. They also mentioned that they have not been able to obtain any information about them since early morning.
Kochi police clarified that no one has been taken into custody in connection with the case. It is speculated that a special investigation team may have detained the two.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is set to consider Siddique’s anticipatory bail plea tomorrow. The bench, comprising Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, will hear the petition. SP Merin Joseph of the Crime Branch will be traveling to Delhi in connection with the case. Former Solicitor General Ranjith Kumar is reportedly set to represent the government in the Supreme Court.
A lookout notice was issued the previous day against Siddique, who has been in hiding regarding the sexual assault case. The police published the lookout notice with Siddique’s photo in various Malayalam and English newspapers.
Since the High Court denied anticipatory bail on September 24, Siddique has been on the run. Although a case was registered against him last month, the police have not taken any action to arrest him. It was a young actress who made the sexual assault allegations against Siddique through the media. Following the allegations, Siddique resigned from his position as General Secretary of the actors’ association ‘AMMA’.
